So, what drives FYZICAL's mission for fall prevention?

  • Falls are the leading cause of death due to injury among the elderly1
  • 1/3 of the population over 65 falls each year2
  • Falls account for 25% of all hospital admissions and 40% of all nursing home admissions1
  • The average hospital cost for a fall-related injury is $17,0862

Double Edged Sword

According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, older adults may voluntarily restrict their activities due to a fear of falling, which in turn increases their risk of falling.2 This group of innovators in fall prevention offer state of the art rehabilitative equipment and treatments, taking the element of fear out of balance therapy for patients, especially for those with a history of traumatic falls. This is just one example of how FYZICAL is leading the charge for fall prevention.

“We focus on ‘well-care’ as a preventive measure instead of reactive treatment of ‘sick-care’ because the time to strengthen the patient and improve their balance is before a life threatening fall occurs.” - Dr. Daniel Deems, M.D., Ph.D., FACS, FYZICAL Chief Medical Officer

The organization is quickly leading the charge to transform healthcare by providing services focused on quality outcomes, total well-being, and prevention.  In the past year, FYZICAL centers have estimated the prevention of approximately 16,875 falls, 112 deaths and savings of over $103 million in health care dollars for our country.
